Failure and Then What?

Have you botched a presentation, lost a promotion, yelled at someone when they didn’t really deserve it or have you set a goal you did not achieve? We’ve all had disappointing situations where we missed the mark and failed at something we hoped to accomplish. Failure isn’t the issue. Failure is a gift we receive to help us try again. Just like the old quote says: “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”

It isn’t the failure, it is what we do after we fail that matters.

It isn’t the failure, it is what we do after we fail that matters.

How do you handle failure?

Often many of us approach failure based on lessons from our childhood. If we were put down, punished and ridiculed because of a bad grade or not making the team, that has an impact on how we handle failure as an adult. However, if we were given permission to accept failure, not as the end, but merely a process on our way to success…that helps us to look at failure in a totally new light.

So I ask you, what have you failed at that you walked away from. What if you tried again? How would you approach the situation?

We know the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing and expecting different results.” Just play a few levels of Angry Birds and you’ll know that quote is true.

So how would you approach a challenge if you knew that failure was merely a stepping stone to your ultimate success? Check out some of my online courses for women!
